Amazon Review Sharing Between Variations (2026): What Changed and What to Do
Say your 2-in-1 and 3-in-1 chargers sat under one parent ASIN with 2,300 ratings between them. Since the spring, the 3-in-1 page shows only its own 41.
What changed with Amazon review sharing?
"With this change, reviews will only be shared between variations with minor differences that don't affect functionality. Reviews will no longer appear on variations with significant differences which may affect your products' overall star ratings and review counts."
"we'll implement these changes gradually by product category between February 12, 2026, and May 31, 2026. You'll receive email notification 30 days before any changes affect your products."
Amazon, Changes to review sharing across product variations starting Feb 12, Seller Central News, January 7, 2026Which variations still share reviews?
"Reviews will continue to be shared for the following variations:"
- "Color or pattern variations of the same product."
- "Size variations that maintain the same function, like king-sized and queen-sized bedding."
- "Pack size or quantity variations."
- "Secondary scent variations for non-scent-focused products, like lemon-scented vs. unscented cleaning products."
- "Different model fitments for the same product type, like phone cases for different models."
Flavor, material and ingredients aren't on the list, and sellers on the forums are asking what happens to their flavor variations. If you sell flavors, use step 2 below and go by Seller Assistant's answer for your listings.
How do I check if my child ASINs still share reviews?
- 1. Open each child ASIN's detail page and compare its rating count with the other children under the same parent. A child that no longer shares shows only its own.
- 2. Open Seller Assistant, the chat assistant in Seller Central, and ask: "Which of my variations are eligible for review sharing?" Amazon announced this use in a forum post.
- 3. Review your variations in Manage All Inventory, as Amazon's announcement suggests, and check that each theme names the real difference between the products.
What if my variation theme is wrong?
A red mug and a blue mug set up as a quantity variation is the mistake Amazon's own example describes. Change the theme to color, and Amazon says eligible products get their reviews re-shared:
"we recommend that you review your variations in Manage All Inventory to ensure that they accurately reflect product differences (for example, use color variation for color differences, not quantity variation)."
"If you need to update your variation themes after the change takes effect, reviews will be re-shared for eligible products."
Amazon, Changes to review sharing across product variations starting Feb 12Don't relabel a real difference in function as color or size. The 2-in-1 and the 3-in-1 are different products, and the listing has to say so.
What happens to Vine reviews?
"Vine reviews will be reinstated to the original child ASINs when applicable, subject to Vine policy limits and compliance with Amazon's review policies."
Amazon, Check review sharing eligibility with Seller Assistant, Seller Central forumsIf the Vine units all went to one child, the other children that no longer share don't get those reviews. The caps Vine puts on a parent ASIN are in getting a new product's first reviews.
A child ASIN lost most of its reviews. What now?
Treat it like a new listing. Keep clicking the Request a Review button on its orders, 5 to 30 days after delivery. Amazon's paid Review Requests ads take products with fewer than 1,000 ratings and reviews; Amazon hasn't said whether that count is the child's own or the whole parent's.
Hear from the buyers of that one child ASIN
With Aftermesh you set up a care link for that product: a page under your own brand, with a QR code to print on its insert card. A buyer who scans tells you, in their own language, how the order went, and you read it in your dashboard; at the end, the page invites them to leave a review on Amazon. It doesn't connect to your seller account.

Do size variations still share reviews?
Only when the sizes keep the same function, like king and queen bedding. Color variations still share.
Can I get the old reviews back?
If the variation theme was set up wrong, fix it; Amazon says reviews are re-shared for eligible products. Vine reviews go back to the child ASIN they were written for, where applicable.
What happened to my Vine reviews?
Amazon says they're reinstated to the original child ASIN when applicable, within Vine's own limits.
Does the change affect the star rating in search results?
Yes. In its forum post, Amazon says the rating and review count in search results only include reviews that can still be shared under the parent ASIN.
